Russian Duma condemned Ghimpu's decree - Moldova Azi
The Russian Duma is considering the decree of Moldovan acting President Mihai Ghimpu which instituted the Soviet Occupation Day on June 28 as a political act of electoral nature, spearheaded against the Moldo-Russian relationship, Ria Novosti reported.
The Duma adopted a declaration to condemn the decree of the Moldovan president. "This decree can only provoke repulsion to the attempts of falsifying history and to the negligence toward the Moldovan nation, its statehood, with which this decree was issued", reads the declaration.
The Russian deputies condemned the decree as an attempt to "rewrite history", which has become "a common practice of some leaders in the post-Soviet space".
The Duma also criticized the decree as an attempt of the authorities in Chisinau to "distract public attention from the real problems of Moldova".
